Well, what do we think? Can it work? I guess its a cool universe, and i guess it could be ok if lucas isn't in direct control.

    ...

'Yesterday TFN was up in Los Angeles for the DVD press day sponsored by Lucasfilm and Fox Home Entertainment. We are pleased to announce that Lucasfilm confirmed officially a Star Wars television show coming in the future. They didn't comment on setting (post-Episode III or post-Episode VI we would guess)or release schedule (we expect Fall 2006). Either way - this is coming for sure!'

It could work one of two ways, itll be a huge success and be as popular as star trek, or will fail miserably, the fans will hate it, and itll be aed after one series.

Im going to be optimistic, its a good idea, but i do think maybe lucas shouldnt be in control of it, even though hes invented star wars.

I thought the prequels were sht (broken record I know). In fact when I went back to watch the original trilogy I didn't feel it was as good as I had previously thought. The original films were satisfactory, it's a pity Lucas can't leave them alone. A TV show with Lucas at the helm sounds very very bad. Hopefully he'll find that the world of TV is far less forgiving than that of cinema and he'll be thought a lesson when it gets axed half way through its first season.

Hopefully it'll be post ROTJ and will star Mark Hamil reprising a now older Luke Skywalker.

Absolutely. If its set in a prequel manner that'll just annoy me cause they'll unearth all sorts of innaccuracies. Though i guess if they dropped into the KOTOR computer game time frame [i don't know much about that...is it 4000 years before? i've never played it but it looked kinda neat with all the jedis/siths]

I enjoyed Young Indiana Jones Chronicles more than I was probably prepared to so I don't see why this SW TV show can't also work out.

Tho one thing that I feel is important WRT to this show is that the producers make it clear that the contents aren't canon

definatly! that would be great! maybe cameos from carrie fisher and (long shot) harrison ford?

While Fisher is still best buds with Lucas, Hamil has a major problem with him and I just cant see them ever working togeather again. Hell Hamil wasnt even asked to do a DVD commentry for the new DVDs! Ford considers Star Wars to be a total joke and beneath him now so I just cant see any guest appearences from him.

As much as i want this show to be good, I just cant see it working out well.
