Mud daemons

I've got an idea brewing that would be perfect for a MUD, but I've not had much experience with them (MUDs, not ideas). What I want to do is take an existing MUD daemon, and rip the guts out of it, to make my own world (without dragons/orcs/wizards).

I figure someone on this board has had some experience customizing a MUD - anyone got any pointers?

Do a search for "mud source code" on google. You'll probably find the source for stuff like Diku or Circle mud. These come with a tiny premade world (with dragons/orcs/wizards). Rename the dragons to elephants or whatever, and Bob's your uncle.
