Driving Lessons

Right, I've looked up and down the list, but I can't seem to spot a board this belongs to, so it's going here wink.gif

Say you were getting driving lessons, and you had to change instructors (for various reasons) and the second instructor kinda contradicts what the other person says, and you live with that. Now this second instructor is going on two weeks holiday, and the test is in two weeks. Would it be better to go to the first person again, or try a third instructor, with the risk of hearing more conflicting instructions?

Well two weeks is plenty of time to get a new instructor and get comfortable with him/her. There's obviously a good reason you left the first instructor so why go back.

If there's a big rush on the driving lessons, ie. a driving test coming up soon, go for the third instructor, if there's no rush just wait on the 2nd one to come back, 2 weeks isn't that long. I've seen myself the huge differences there can be between two instructors, even from the same company smile.gif

Humbug, I got my licence after 10 hours behind the wheel on the other side of the road tongue.gif.

If you have been getting lessons since you applied for your test (going on the assumption that it still takes up to 6 mts to take it) you really should have built up your own style of driving at this stage so changing it will fvk you up.

Keep what you're used to, if your a guy you're gonna fail anyway smile.gif

    Three tips:

    1) Spend the next two weeks driving as you would on the day of the test (bar the speed), note every single thing you see in front of you and in your mirrors in your head or speak it out, you may feel like a twat but its a very very good exercise in observance... which is the single biggest thing for the test, look everywhere and note everything in your mind.
My driving improved instantly in my own mind (and in practice) when I done that.

    2) My first test I failed because of "failure to move along" or some ****e like that, basically if its a 30-zone then go 28-32mph, any less or more and your either two slow or too fast.

    3) Clean your car inside and out, if its not a new car or has lame stickers/extras on it then use the instructors car.

Seriously though if you've had a lot of lessons already it might not be worth switching this close to the test. Just do plenty of driving as you would during the test and relax.

It would be interesting to know what conflicting instructions you are getting.. To be honest 2 weeks before your test, you should be concentrating on polishing what you already know, and not changing your driving style very much. If you reckon the second instructor is better than the first, I'd try going for a third instructor, and explaining the situation to them, otherwise just go back to the first intructor I guess.
