Did anyone see this programme last night? Mind boggling stuff. You'd have to say it's another Sep 11 waiting to happen and I don't imagine it's confined to just Manchester airport.

I saw that and was glad that I dont travel by air outside this country! No doubt Manchester Airport is typical, the only pity is that the security failings were not put in full context ie the drive for profits over public safety.

I only happened to catch the last 20 mins or so and I was worried by what was being done. Just goes to show that no matter what the govs say, Securit will never be improved uintil something actually will happen like 9/11!

I watched it and must say that I am more than a little concerned, I live quite close to an airport in England now and as has been said in this thread already, I am confident that this is not only happening in Manchester. The ease with which people walked through scanners without setting them off and bypassed security altogether was stunning. I am in awe of somebody who can say, so soon after the 9/11 attacks and recent raids on other airports, that they are going to cut the budget of an airports security by half.

Makes me glad that I do not travel by plane as much as I used to though. I think I will be sticking to the ferry for the immediate future.

Scary stuff alright. The way they just lie on the security reports and not bother to check people and even letting passangers through broken scanners. Doesn't do much for confidence in airports. I wonder will there be any backalsh from the government or will it just be ignored like it already is being.

She consistently did this throughout her piece? Aided by her accomplice inside the airport who regularly stated that fact throughout 'the only reason there even is security is because it's a government requirement - otherwise, the airport would severely reduce us to further cut their expenses and increase their profit margin.'
