Multiple Downloads

I just got a new laptop and now i can only download 2 zip's or rar's in one ie window at a time. My old laptop could download 8 files from a window at a time. How can i change my new laptop to do this?

Is it the website your downloading from? Some sites limit you to a couple of connections at a time, so as to stop download managers and so on I guess and stop the site from being overloaded.
Have you tried Firefox? This has it's own downlaod manager which I've never had any problems with multiple downloads with.
