I have a free to view card which I have not inserted into my digibox for about a month. When I put it into the box tonight BBC1/2 come up ok but ITV CH4 and CH5 give the following message:

For your information: ITV1 makes compelling.... blah blah blah... Call the broadcaster to upgrade your subscription to recieve this channel.

Simular message on CH4 and CH5.

Has my card deactivated or is it just a case of leaving in the card for 24/46 hours?

    Hi,
I have just put my card in the digibox and got the following message:

The viewing card is not authorised
    call the broadcaster for assistance

Will leaving the card in the box for 24 hours solve my problem or is it terminal. :(

Did the card work before? If so then leaving it in the box usually restores it.

FTV cards must be activated in a digibox before they work (once the have been activated in one digibox they will work in all other digiboxes). If you have an unactivated card then it is pretty much useless.

Hi,Ros Man no leaving your card in the box for 24 hours will not work. The card is knackered, either it was never activated or was and then reported that there was a problem with it.So it is useless other than as a card to give you the BBC channels on the epg.

    Hi,
Thanks for the replys. I have 2 cards, one is a ftv card I got one year ago and this is still activated. The second one, which is now giving me the trouble is an ex-uk sub card which I got on e-bay (care needed - I know, before anyone comments). I was under the opinion that uk ex-sub cards were never de-activated for itv, c4 and c5.
    Any ideas.

ps. 24 hours later and still no joy.

If a card is reported stolen or damaged then Sky block it completely. So a seller on ebay may sell the card, report it stolen, get a replacement. Some of the sellers are probably not aware that by reporting the card lost/stolen/damaged etc that Sky deactivate them, but some are :(.

Just be happy that you have one working FTV card. :D

    Bare with me on this.

Lets say the card is a FTV card and not an ex uk sub card. Someone in the UK has has informed sky it was lost/stolen/damaged and therefore it is de-activated.
If I were to ring sky from UK number giving adress in UK where I got my first card (which is still working). Tell them my origional card is de-activated (which is not) would they send a signal to re activate it. Instead of having my origonal and working card in the box I would have my deactivated second card.
Would this work or would they just replace my origional.
    Any comments please.
