I'm having trouble with my cluth. Sometime when i press in the cluth pedal it makes a noise like a click or the sound wood makes when it snaps in two. Does anyone know what could cause this? Also the clutch ahs frozen twice on me so far! It gets stuck halfway and it takes a while for it come back.

the clutch problem is most likely the cable is frayed inside and ready to break get it changed ASAP!!!

cv boots I'm guessing you mean??

to change them there is 2 options you can buy a universal split boot and all you do is remove all the bits of your old cv boot and there is glue with the new boot you put it along split and then when it's set you put the boot over cv joint and hold in place with the clips supplied!!

or you can get a normal boot and how they're fitted is usually you remove the cv joint from the drive shaft by takin off the wishbone and is fairly hard to do but if you've got a haynes manual you should get a good grasp of how to do it yourself!!

Hi SadieB,

Fiestas have a self adjusting clutch mechanism which is mounted on the pedal box. It is a pair of plastic ratchets which mesh together and ensure the cable is kept under tension. In all likelihood yours has reached the end of its adjustment and you need to get the the clutch checked. At the worst you need a new clutch, at best a new adjustment mech (€15 approx from Ford) and a clutch cable. Off to a mechanic with you - smokey2 details one type of cv replacement boot - the other is easier to fit and has a zip up one side - any auto factors will sort you out, or get both problems done by your friendly local mechanic.

The clutch cable tensioner is made from plastic in a Fiesta and over time the teeth wear down, and so when the pedal is pressed sometimes it won't engage (and you hear that strong click). My sister got stranded in the countryside some years back when it happened to her, luckily I was able to show her how to get home without engaging the clutch fully. She got it fixed the next day!

have to agree with both the above on the clutch problem you have!!

after reading both their posts I remember my brothers fiesta had the same problem also with the plastic ratchet thing on the pedal box!!

would strongly recommend getting the cable looked at also just to be sure!!
