Suggest Me a Guitar (Part 2)..

As someone else had that topic title "Suggest Me a Guitar", decided to alternate it slightly..

Anyways, onto the point of the topic.

A few years back, a mate of mine was big into guitars. He got an electric guitar which i loved playing. Even messing around with - played a few basic songs on it - intro to "Come As You Are", a couple of Semisonic intros, Blink 182 etc. So i went guitar mad.

People always told me to start with an acoustic. So, i took their advice and got an acoustic guitar the following Christmas. I went mad with it over Christmas but for some reason, i just didn't enjoy the acoustic. My fingers were bloody from playing it, i didn't like the sound that came out of it. Maybe i just had to get used to it in time - but at one point, i really needed some quick money so i sold it! (call me a quitter if you want!) :)

But recently i've been very interested into getting back into it. But i want to start into it again by getting an electric guitar.

So, any recommendations on a guitar i should get? Pictures if possible?

Bear in mind, i am practically a beginner. And also i won't be playing it in a band or anything so it won't be under much strain. It'll be more of a think that i use to relax and chill out when the stress of college work (plenty of that this year!) is getting too much for me! So with that in mind, do you think a second hand electric guitar is advisable?

    Thanks in advance all.

PS - Anyone selling second hand electric guitars in good nick? :)

I saw in the other "Suggest Me A Guitar" post that someone recommeded Harley Benton guitar's for beginners and that they're mostly under €200.

Are these recommended? Being that i am a beginner and that i am a student about to go back to college. (**hint hint** very limited budget!!) :)

I just want the best guitar for my money. And all the local stores here in Sligo seem to be a rip off. Cheapest i've seen a guitar for is €149 and it looks real cheap and tacky!

    Thanks again all!

eh, two of those guitars are basses... The HBP120BK and MB22-2T are the basses. The Flying V is the only guitar. Harley Benton aren't terrible guitars. I just bought a HB 7 string. What's your absolute budget including amp (which you basically need)

I just noticed now that they were basses! Apologies for that! Will correct my post..

Not even sure how much a decent amp costs nowadays. Definantly just need a basic 10W amp.

105 euro from Thomann will get you the Roland Microcube. 2W, mighty loud, built in quality effects. Highly recommend. I'm trying to sell my bass to get one.

Cheers for the info on the amp. Very nice!

Need to get the guitar sorted though as well.

    Anyone else got suggestions?

PS - Buy N Sell site is down so i can't search for any second-hands either.

    Cheers feylya! Much appreciated!

Like the HBR450BK (second link), not a huge fan of the HBL400BK.

    It's made of plywood.

    Ah well!

Will definantly consider the HBR450BK (http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw6_harley_benton_hbr450bk_prodinfo.html)

    Cheers for the help again!

Was suprised at the relatively good reviews for the Harley Benton MS11BK at Harmony Central

    Anyone ever used it?

That read like a fairly crappy review to me...
