OK this is more of a question then a rant but I kinda wanna explain what's happened before the actual question so eh sit back :)

OK so upgraded to Sky+ last November and am about to recieve my 4th box next Tuesday. The worst thing being I recieved my third yesterday morning.

First box worked great until it kind of had a softwear melt down and crashed every other minute, recorded when it felt and then decided it didn't want to be a sky+ box anymore (i.e. it just didn't record at all) so it was replaced.

Second box worked OK, one or two crashes but all was well until about three weeks ago when we got NTL Broadband installed. The guy put it in a different room but I complained that the reception on the TV was rubbish so he looked at our main box. The box was an old one with the cable coming from it split two ways, one going into the TV (via the VCR) and the other going into the Sky Box and into the room next door (via TV Link). The reception on the second tv for the NTL was always poor but I didn't mind as the Sky itself was faultless. While the box was outta action I replaced the NTL thing with a little box that allowed two feeds from the cable which worked fine and even though the box was in standby always it piped it normally thru tv link.

Anyway, he replaced this box with the much newer one where you have to screw the wire into it meaning splitting it wasn't an option anymore so I just left it in the main TV. After the guy left however while our NTL was great, the Sky+ box refused to come out of stand by. Rang Sky and they sent someone out who came yesterday. I was in bed at the time (they came early for once) but the guy replaced the box and all was working when he left. Though I have to say the box which was obviously reconditioned hadn't even been closed properly and a big open gap is visable in the front of it.

Yesterday evening box number 3 refused to come out of stand by. Would come on after plugging out etc for two seconds, power up, say searching. Then screen would go pink and it'd shut off. It doesn't pipe the NTL thru it at all now. The sky guy got a bit defensive when I was giving out and said he'd send someone out next tuesday to give me another box. Only problem is I'll be away so someone else will have to deal with it.

Now question, could the new little box for the ntl (analogue) that splits the signal have anything to do with it?
