i'm looking for a budget tv card, with at least decent picture quality and recording resolution, which some cheap ones seriously lack

    i came across this one
its MSI but i cant find a review for it, anyone know about it?
or recommend another thats around thar price

i heard pinnacle ones are crap and the hauppage one i looked at didn't record at high enough res and i think it had mono sound

the hauppage pvr is too expensive for this

Can't comment on the MSI sorry.

I have however had a Pinnacle Systems TV Card (approx 70euro) for about 6 years. And its still going. not many pieces of harware have been in my computer for 6 years and not got upgraded. Picture quality is good but the software isn't great. Gets the job done and thats about it.

I did buy the Haupage USB tv card but brought it back as the image qualioty wasn't as good as the pinnacle. Wouldn't reccomend it.

Maybe the Pinnacle Software has improved ... if so its worth considering.

i heard the pinnacle ones have crap software and there were several reports of audio/visual sync problems, have you had any?
i'm not sure what exactly the software does, can you get third party software instead?

did you record using the pinnacle?
i want to record/watch full screen on my 19" CRT so it needs to be pretty good

The recording works... to an extent. After a while it stops and gives no indication. Say after about 2.30 hours. And yes the audio/video can fall out of sync but only when recording. TV was fine in that respect.

Regarding 3rd party software, i did install a couple of candidates but didn't get any of them to work correctly, mainly because i was too lazy to get them working. I think there is thread on the Windows forumn about this... thats where i sa it i think.
