Did you unpack the ISO's or burn them directly?

What version of Mandrake did you get?

    Here's your problem:
    Mandrake

    :D

In seriousness though, a lot of people have had problems with the Mandrake installer. If your eyes don't bleed from the ads (get clicking with that ad blocker plugin), have a look at this thread. The Mandrake installer crops up a few times.

Not sure if it would have made a difference but you should have burnt the ISO's without unpacking them.
I.e. in Nero choose file, open then point to the ISO then click burn and bob's yer uncle.

Presuming iso burnt properly: Rather than relying on the BIOS being set to boot from CD Drive first, see if there is an option in the BIOS of manually selecting what to boot from. I have found with some CD-Rs that eventhough BIOS set to boot from CD drive it doesn't wait long enough for CD before loading hard drive. Where as if I press F11 (or what ever) during boot process and specify boot from CD, it keeps trying longer to boot from it, which usually sorts it out.

Alternatively you could create a boot floppy (there often is a DOS program called RAWRITE and a floppy image on the linux cd - not sure about Mandrake).

Sounds to me like the problem is that you unpacked it. An ISO is an image of a CD, and therefore contained all the information needed to make the CD bootable. This was lost when the ISO was unpacked. Reburn the disk the way Ste- describes, and you should have no bother...

do you have an option to insert boot flags? if so maybe you could try the noacpi boot option and such. Might solve the problem.

I'm trying to install mandrake 10 and I get the following error message
when the install program is loading into memory:
error in exec of stage 2 :-(
trying to execute 'usr/bin/runinstall2' from the installation volume, the
following fatal error occured FATAL ERROR IN STAGE1:I/O error

I can't recover from this. You may reboot your system.

Does anyone know what the problem is??

sorry, im stumped, that could be anyhthing really,
Are you sure you burnt that cd properly???
Like i said if boot options dont do that trick, and it just hangs straight off im not sure anything will sort it out.

I'm just after installing Mandrake 10 from CDs I burnt tonight. PM me your address and I'll stick them in the post to you. It will either get you going and confirm that the burning of the discs was the problem or else.........it won't. I don't see myself using the disks again anytime soon so if they work for you you can post me a few blanks.
