Well it has been noted that Bloomberg wants to do everything he can to please Bush, and that includes blocking protests (they were banned from a Central Park protest, because they might damage the grass).

I look forward to seeing reports on mainstream media. Ocassions like these are where indymedia go into hyper-spin (100 people = 1 million and so on).
I'm sure most eyes will be on NYC once the conference proper starts, and then we can see just what the protesters are doing, and what lengths the police are going to to stop them

mainstream news going into spin on these occasions and 1 million = 100 people
    come on!

standoffs being created now, police manhandling people...more arrest but arrestees are being processed and realeased...

    it happening now...

ok ok ill put in the context / required fairness, it wasnt eactly a permitted protest...

the grass was actually layed to take large crowds say says the head gardener...

Well, it all depends on who you want to believe.
Personally, if RTE say 1000 and indymedia say 100,000, I'd believe RTE more.
Or decide myself it was around 50,000.

Or decide myself it was around 50,000.

this is the option i would choose myself unless i happened to be there (wel i would actually think 75,000)

you may believe rte more but then alot of the news rte will be getting over the next few days will be from american wire servies... so would you believe then as much as rte?

Police are getting ready to arrest over 100 people near the Lincoln Tunnel.

now would that be million or a hundred? probably be a hundred...

    for coverage go to http://portland.indymedia.org/

1/4 mill there march sorta finished now what happens as people central park

seems it going well but people are getting arrested by underocer cops... apparently for walking on the pavement or not walking on the pavement... if you have 1/4 mill on the streets what the point of arresting them for that?

been listening to it all day... so loads of people around new york still this eve, after ufpj march disappated thousands at central park, chill festival atmo...

so police tellling people to disperse in the downtown area of new york, near theathres restaurants etc, but then other police blocking them coralling them with that orange netting stuff, they are trapped passers by trappeed too, so they can't leave then when they don't disperse the cops go in with batons... police being violent this is not being reported.. saw clear footage of it last night... ott aggressive acts by police among the chaos...

when they see cop hitting a protestor they think oh my colleage is in trouble so then 6 police jump in and hit the guy?!!!! intelligent
