Anyone heard of EAPCI? apparently this is gonna take over the AGP slot in the next couple of years or so.. I dunno, as much as it is gonna be a big leap in better gfx performance, i cant see people using it.

It really is gonna section off the market, and graphics cards are hard sellers as they are atm.

Anyone got any specs on this? I was talkin to a mate i used to work with and he told me about it - just wanna see the eta and speeds this 'revolution' is gonna work at!

I thought pci-e was the replacement for agp. The full potential of it won't even be used for another 3-4 years so I don't see why a new technology could be needed.

I could have sworn PCI-Express was due to take over AGP. In fact, i'm positive i saw somewhere that PCI-X was like 16x AGP, and we don't even use the full potential of 8x AGP yet!

I've never heard of EAPCI and neither has google. Got any links?

Apperently they are working on 16x agp so I don't know how that will fair out against 16x PCI-E

To keep all the acronym junkies happy :D

Maybe it's some new power management standard (EACPI).
I found EAPCI but that seems to be an Ensoniq chip

red_ice has a habit of getting his facts f*ckways.

His mate was obviously talking about PCI Express, or PCI-E

    PCI-E is here already.
Just look at Dell's website, all their current PCs are PCI-E, and I'm sure other oem manu's are the same.

The latest mobos from Abit and Asus (socket 775) are all PCI-E too.

    AGP is now "old-tech"
