I was just about to buy the Fuji S7000 when I noted that there is a camera fair coming up in Germany shortly. My fear is that if I bought the s7000 now, in a short time I may find that there is a updated version of same on the market. Does anyone know if such an update is likely....???.

Have a look on the Fuji forums at www.dpreview.com

If a new model is in the offing it will be mentioned there first.

I don't think that there will be a new or replacment model for the s7000 anytime soon. I have one about 2 months now, bought it for €610 trade price, while most other shops had it for €700. Argos now have it for about €650 or so.

GREAT camera tho', had a s304 before, so Fuji have me hooked on there range.

If it meets the needs of what you want then go for it. Playing the waiting game in the digital camera market won't do you any good. But it with the knowledge that in 6 months some manufacturer will release an even better model at a cheaper price. That's the way the cookie crumbles. I shudder when I think how much I paid for my Canon D30 about 3 years ago. I'd get one of the Canon Pro models for the same price today BUT camera is still going strong and gives me great service.

    Agreed.
Get the one that fits your needs and your price range the best, right now.
If you wait for something better, you'll never get anything.
Unless you know there's something coming out soon, that you really want, then just be happy with what you can get now.

undefined Many thanks friends. I went into a camera shop here in Cork this pm and the salesman there said the rep from Fuji had been in this am and said that it was unlikely that there would be a update on the s7000 for some time to come. So I think I will go ahead with the purchase. There is such a difference in prices, shops as opposed to the net. Shop quoted €749 and on the net its £330 . A hell of a difference. All the reviews are in favour of the s7000 so it looks like a hell of a good camera. Pity about the zoom factor when compared with the S5000, which has a zoom of 10.What the hell, I suppose we can't have everything.
Thanks once again. How handy to have a forum such as this.

The S7000 is €500 from NY Camera , add about €16 for shipping and you get a saving of well over €200. I've used them twice in the past year and have had no problems whatsoever. Including shipping from Amazon.co.uk it's €556 which isn't that much more expensive that NY Camera. Both those prices include the local tax (Germany or the UK) so you won't get stung for nasty import duty and tax like you would if your bought from outside the EU. Just make sure you don't give a penny to the photography shops in Ireland!
