As a giutar man i cant tell ya much except a friend of mine spent a fortune on an electric kit and he loves it. Brilliant for late night practicing. I was thinkin of gettin a small kit myself. I saw a cool wee yamaha kit on ebay a while ago that had mesh silencing pads on. Was only about 400 or so quid. Shouldve snapped it up as i cant find it anymore.

    These are my comments FWIW

The Alesis DM5 module is fairly ancient by todays standards, although it was/is an industry standard and well respected
I don't think there's a choke facility in the hats?
I think all the pads are single zone, so for example you cant play a rim sound on the outside of the snare and proper snare sound on the inside.

For all that, it's an excellent price. I've been threatening to buy it myself for the last year.

as far as i know theres no choke and they are all Single zone yeah. But i think you gotta be spending a crap load of money to get those features. Personally i just want it for the new studio im opening and to mess around on and i reckon for 650 even if it was ****e you could offload it in Buy and sell for the same money

There is a set of FAME E-Drums over at music store koeln. These are basically the same drums that you are considering to buy, only for €555. Dont know whether that includes shipping or not. A friend of mine bought the Fame drums and I've played them. They are exactly what you can expect for that price. They are decent, but some of the kits have if-y floor tom sounds. That said, they are great for home recording and late night mess abouts.
They are not as quiet as you might think. They make a fair whack when you hit them, but nothing compared to an accoustic set. The response is ok, one zone pads make them limited in ability, no rim-shots or double sticking I'm afraid. They do have some really Sh-ite midi backing tracks which are fun to play along with. They are really handy to move about and store.
Only thing I can't comment on is the Hi-hats. The pedal didn't work from day one. They sent it back months ago and never heard anything since, that said, their pc's broke so God know's how many E-mails they got!!!

Hmm - looks like the same kit with a different and far more basic sound module. 7 ins and 2 pedals. Can't find much on the net about it, except that it seems to be an oem deal.

kit is slightly differnent i think. the Musicstore one seems to have another snare/tom pad for a hihat while the thomann one looks to have a proper cymbal pad. I think id go with thomann for 2 reasons. the module is better and The last time o ordered from music store, it took ages and The order was wrong and they have yet to reply to my Emails (this was over 6 months ago)
