Would it work, here's how it goes. I'm 39, work with a girl 25, we get on really well and i get the feeling she is coming on to me big time, in fact i know it. It's more than just teasing before anyone asks.

I really like her too but the problem is this.... is the age difference too much. I care enough that i don't want people laughing at her behind her back, me?? i can handle it!!

Hmmm - depends on the person entirely. She could be 25 and behave like she's 16, or 25 and be completely mature. Either way it's up to you - at that age there's not many people who can really tell you what you should be doing!

It is quite a gap, 14 years, but the worst that will happen is that your priorities will quickly show up as being very different - but who knows, perhaps you're 39 and think you're 21... :D

If the age gap doesn't bother either you or her than you shouldn't let it be an issue!!!

Why not go out for a drink after work with her and see where it takes you, you might not have anything in common anyway so worrying over the age thing could be irrelevant!!

not if it doesn't bother you!
    I'd say go for it

At 25 shes old enough, and bold enough.
Imo - relationships are about life stages as it were (more so than age).
If you are looking for the same things - then it'll work; if not - then it won't. I guess what I saying is, only you guys know. If you're looking for a long trem commitment, and shes looking to head off to Austrailia at the end of the summer...

    But best of luck. :D

Age is just a number, if you both want the same things and you both obviously like each other age shouldnt make a difference.
You shouldnt care what people think. sure there might be gossip flying but once they see your both happy, it'll all fade into the background.

i have friends that met 4 years ago and they were the same age as you guys are now. everything worked out great for them, they had the same apprehensions, now they're getting married next september

    good luck

Outside of your body beginning to fall apart have you really changed all that much since you hit 25? I doubt it. So, TBH, I would give it a try.
    Age is just a number
That number could be two to five years in the Curragh if you’re not careful though...

I really do not see the harm in dating her in the slightest - when I was 23 I really liked a guy who was 14 years older...problem was he did not go near me until I was 25 and I had moved on. If she was 16 or 17 then I would say to read Nabacov (Lolita), but at this age, what is the harm? In terms of it happening in work - it will be news for all of 5 minutes and then they will be onto something else. Best wishes.

    Sick.

    18/2=9
    9+7=16
    15<16
    QED.

Ah the auld half the age + 7 rule comes back to haunt
    23 / 2 = 11.5 + 7 = 18.5

/me heads off to local college to check out the 1st years.
Man I actually feel dirty suggesting it, no darling I wasn't looking I swear

It is how you get on with that person that is important. Age gaps will inevitably cause problems, but you can be clear on that with each other before you start and be ready for it.

that divided by 2 and +7 rule is so stupid. say im 18 i cant go out with a 15 yr old, but if i wait two years its perfectly ok. by the way im not talking bout a sexual relationship, just a typical boyfriend/girlfriend relationship!

as long as shes 15+1/2 or over its ok according to "the rules"

what about that period when its somebodys birthday. lets say the 15yr old girl turns 16, she is then allowed to go out with the 18 yr old but only UNTIL the day before the guy turns 19.hmmmmmmm :D

best way is too see how other people would react. when i was 18 and if i went out with a 15 year old my mates would of ripped it out of me, and so would if it was one of my mates.

also if i had 15yr old sister, and some 18 year was after her i wouldnt be happy at all.

Tell me about it...my brother would not let me date any guys his age (he is 6 years older than me) until I was way into my 20's yet it was OK for him to go for my friends...

age gaps dont matter unless the people are in their teens

It was meant as a rule of thumb, nothing more. And as a rule of thumb, it is probably one that works better as you grow older, TBH. Otherwise you should take note that the age of consent in Ireland is 17. Sexual relations, or at least sexual intercourse, below that age is illegal.

Now as much as it seems to be getting some people’s jollies to discuss going for 15-year-old girls here, that was not the age or topic being discussed.

...emm, so you're not talking about a b/f / g/f relationship - you're talking about friends? I've never heard about a non sexual b/f / g/f relationship outside of Hollywood!

age dosent really matter as long as yere both above age.
but if your a mature guy and she's an imature girl or vice versa then ye'll probably clash and it end up not liking each other .

as long as personalities match age should never matter.
