Ok Ive just finished a job on my companies web site nothing too big and got talking to the boss about my interest in photography, have never had my own good camera, usually just cheap crappy jobs, before. So now I have 500 in my pocket and am looking to get a camera. Trouble is it kinda has to be bought in pixels, there is no way I can get out of this, so online is out of the question. So with a budget of 500 - 550 and the pixels website www.pixels.ie, what should I be looking at.

I was originally thinking of something like the Fuji S3000 or maybe next model up after that 5500, also the Samsung V50 is right at the budget price, but amn't sure of samsung as a photographic quantity. and too the camedia 750
    Thoughts on a postcard.
BTW Ill be buying the camera this week prob Tuesday.

The Fuji's are good cameras. Might want to have a tinker with Canon or Nikon if there is anything in your range. A good thing to do if you are comparing different cameras is bring in a memory card/pen drive, and take a couple of pics with each camera - roughly the same photo. Get the shop to transfer them onto your memory and bring them home and have a good look at them on your own time to compare. No shop will have a problem with this request if the know your ready to shell out some cash. Also, have a read of the reviews on the web - www.dpreview.com are excellent and completely unbiased

    hope it helps

    Hi you doin ?
I have a fuji 3500, I have to say its for every day use,but this camera is easy to get use to, seems to be hard wearing, the programe cd is easy to use,Like anything practice. For whats it worth I have found fuji a good reliable camera. It goes every where ,always in the glove box.9 out of ten times I am out and about its with me !
Not a bad price you would have change out of ur 500 !!! and a little change with the next model up .:D

Nice little problem to have, why dont you consider adding a few quid yourself to it and get a SLR like maybe a D50 kit.

Twasn't a bad problem indeed...... back in 2004 when the post was made originally. *coughs*

I'd imagine this has been bought by now. I don't know what gives me that feeling. ;)

Oi, I'm not a Photography mod. :) Silly.

I tried to not be too insulting in my reply. Hell it was probably a fluke that I noticed it. I re-read the date about 5 times. What tipped me off was 'this Tuesday' given it was already Tuesday.
