Just out of curiosity, who would be on for meeting weekly for 5/7 aside games in the evenings in Dublin?

Would probably cost 5 Euro a head to rent a pitch somewhere.

If we got enough people we could even think about a boards.ie mini league.

I definitely would as long as it is not miles away like Tallaght or something. UCD astro pitches are pretty damn good.

Sounds like a grand old idea, down in Cork though.

I'd definately be interested. I live in tallaght but could travel if its not too far, I play in a hall njust off the north cirular road on a sat evening and in ringsend on sunday evening. so any other day would be fine. I work till 6 in town so 7 or after would probably be a good time.

You're second on "the list" that'll give you a proper excuse for your lack of an international career.

I'm shocked people, everyone seems to be great at TALKING about playing football or about football in general, five people are willing to get up and play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,838 ✭✭✭DapperGent

I'd have a go. I have the unfit though. Would take me quite a while to get to the stage where I wasn't collapsing after a light jog.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,552 ✭✭✭✭GuanYin

Well its a good way to get fit really, but it should cater for everyone no matter how unfit, unskilled/female they are ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

c'mon folks dont be afraid to commit yourselves. this almost looks like it could come together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

Syke maybe if you promised to wear shorts there'd be more of an interest?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

As long as i can get to it id love it. Im fit enough on the old bike but the second my fit touch the ground im as unfit as the next guy ;)

seedings based on past performances , and 2 players from the same club could not be on the same team ;) .

I would imagine a lot of it will depend on who shows up on the day, if this is to become a regular thing there will probably be different people there on different nights.

Not sure what Syke had in mind, but for now there's no point in worrying about that 'til we get more people signed up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

it could be seede according to each persons opinion on how good they are. :D

never mind any of that, just didve the people who turn up in two teams, adjust the teams if they seem unfair during the game, then keep the same team the week after, always adjusting if theyre unfair until you have 2 regular teams to make it competitive. I find playing against the same 5 every week makes it more competitive, your like, oh them bastards beat us last week we have to win this week, so its more fun!

Id play if i lived in dublin :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭talla

I'll be the first mod brave enough to throw my hat into the ring. Havent played in over a year due to shin splints, operation on back, dislocated shoulder etc etc. I think you get the picture, I'm a tad injury prone. Centre of town round 7ish would be perfect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

    G'man talla :)

Any day really suits me before college starts back.

don't be afraid to put you're studs into talla's shins you're shoulder into his shoulder , and you're elbow into his back .

If that dosen't work push him ;) .

Id play if I lived in Dublin , I may be young but ive more talent than most of ya's :p:p:p:p

Beat me to it man, only I was going to say Darren!

Welly welly welly welly welly welly well, a mod is coming out?

And the newest one at that, perhaps the others know something he don't?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 956 ✭✭✭midget lord

once the soccer starts we can make this beating a regular thing ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

You can put me down too. Just finished the Summer 5 a side league in Tallaght last Friday. Our Team won the plate championship!! :D
I was the only player to play in every game which I was WELL pleased with.
We all got pretty cool medals too.
    Anyway, enough waffling, I'm in!

    B.

***edit - Forgot to say, I have a set of bibs that we can use, and belive me we'll need them especially because we don't know each other.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 956 ✭✭✭midget lord

we also have to learn eachothers real names as i dont intend on responding to midget lord in public!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

You're still going to be called midget lord y'know :)

My mam even calls me Amz at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭talla

I've had more comebacks than Stan Collymore and Gazza put together at this stage!! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 921 ✭✭✭Shaque attack

i'd b up 4 it once college starts again. ucd would be very handy round 7 or 8 especially if we needed to book more than one pitch but in town would probably be the handiest for everyone.
