Ah, my wonderful first edition Razor Boomslang USB mouse has just gone belly up. Boy, it's difficult to tab around these pages!

So, any suggestions on a replacement? I'd be half inclined to get a new Razor now that Karna have been reincarnated, but just in case there are some tasty alternatives...

    RIP Razor... :(

i'd say your into gaming if you have a razor and tbh if your use to it's "low profile" i'd buy a new razor as it might take months getting use to another mouse.

    other good gaming mice are.

ms exp3.0 - my personal fave
    logitech mx510
logitech mx700 - cordless and meant to be lag free (never used one myself)

Buy a new one here :D

I feel your pain man. Would not be a happy bunny if my Razor went bang! Just replace it with a new one :D

The mx510 is a great mouse. would recommend it to anybody

Thanks for the advice and feedback. I've installed a MS PS/2 mouse for the time being, though it just doesn't feel right... :(

Thanks ARGINITE for the recommendation, I'll check it out, though I'm obviously more inclined to check out a new Razor!

Personally I hated the Razor's I had 1000 and 2000. The all gave me RSI. My Logitech dual optical is much more comforatable. It has two 800-dpi optical sensors. In fact most of the newer opticals are 1x800 and don't need cleaning. Dunno why you'd go back to an older technology.

I see Razor have a new optical model, the viper. 1x1000-dpi sensor. Anyone have any links to reviews of it? Looks a more normal shape.

..I never had any problems with the form factor, and have gotten used to the fact that my hand rests differently on the Razor. Still, I haven't bought anything to replace it with yet, still have plenty of checking out to do...

i find the mx510 a great mouse, few extra buttons and a task changer so no more alt tab porn switcheroos! the mouse is also extremley comfortable to use, and its then nicest looking mouse evar. however i havnt used the razorr mice, but the mx510 does me fine.

I'd recomend the mx510 as well. Best mouse i've ever used. If you want a cordless version go with the mx710.

Its not ment to be great. As a mouse it pretty cool but with only 3 mouse buttons its useless :(

Personally I don't use any more buttons. My logitech mouse has a thumb button which I used to configure as "back" but I don't bother any more. I guess its from being a contractor and using lots of different PC's and laptops most of them dire, so you stop bothering with the nice-ities. You just keep everything as standard.

I used to like the accuracy of the Razor 2000 but the rollers on the mouse wheel seem to pick up more dirt than anyother mouse I ever used. Plus they were hard to clean. I think there was a rough surface to them. Also even after 6 months of use I just couldn't live with the shape anymore.

I had no problems with dirt on my Razor once I changed to using a Steelpad mousepad. Very easy to keep clean, although I'd like if I could heat it during winter, my fingers get very cold resting on the surface :)

I'm impressed with any reviews I've seen of the MX510, though the Razors seem to have the drop on Logitech when it comes to resolution. I'm also used to the shape of the Razor. I might just have to buy one of each (I've been wanting to get a decent mouse for work for a long time now)...

What did you get in the end?

    probably got a razor diamondback.

i read this title as Razor has gone bust.

They are meant to be releasing a "gamers" which should be interesting to see what it's like to say the least

I used to use a Razor and I could never get used to it. I'm still using my Logitech Dual Opticals, and a standard Dell USB optical mouse. I was curious what you'd replace it with.
