I've been thinking of this for a week now and I'm just wondering what everyone else would think if RTÉ or TV3 set up an Irish version of BB? I think it would fair well with ratings, but we'd probably need Davina to present it! ;)

Do you think there should be a BB Ireland? 14 votes

Well Damn, I clicked on this thread thinking "BB" stood for Broadband  What a waste of space, an Irish version of Big Brother. This whole damn country already is one big corrupt "Big Brother". Therefore no vote needed from me. ROFL :D

    ah wtf?
NO, Ireland would ruin the BB illusion!

More like if RTE waste any more tv license money on sh*te tv programs such as Big Brother they'll nearly be riots on the streets, besides it not paying them if they do do it I'll be one of the first upto there office to shout at them!

TV3 can waste there own many if they want but I don't want RTE using my money to make more ****e programs

Where's the option for no becuase BB is ****e?

Anyway I doubt it'll ever happen simply because the cost of producing the show is simply enourmous to such an extent that even if it was a huge success the revenue generated would almost certainly not be enough to cover costs. I don't think the franchise costs from Endemol (?) are anything less than extortionate either.

If some kind of syndication could be worked out where by the show would be screened on an English channel it might cover costs another option would be just to use the English BB set and infrastructure.

Anyway, plenty of stumbling blocks, hopefully insurmountable.

Did we not have that crap Celebrity Farm or whatever the hell it is with such "Celebrities" like Twink or whoever they found had finished the Panto circuit? Terrible thing altogether! I bet they had an after-party with Harrison Ford and Jennifer Lopez, them crazy celebrities.

We not only had Celebrity Farm, but also Cabin Fever, where the best thing to ever happen to a Big Brother programme happened when the boat sank. Let's hope all the rest of these stupid shows sink too, permanently.

I'd say the production values of Big Brother are way to high to even let RTE near attempting to make one of their own. And Endemol aren't about to allow the franchise to be ruined by a half-assed attempted.

(Though, I saw the Australian one recently and it was very different to the UK, albeit still very slick in production value terms.)
