    hi
i cancelled my sky sub until i get sky + sometime soon but i still have the UK FTV stations like bbc etc.
i also have chorus coming in through just like in the olden times and i noticed that my sky box (grundig) has an aerical in socket at the back
my question is..can i input the chorus cable into this and watch my other stations like sky one and mtv through the sky box?
obviously they wont be in digital, but it will make it easier than changing from sky chorus every so often

    cheers

I'm pretty sure you CAN'T do that, I could be wrong tho.
(There's around 20 BBCs isn't there, I pulled out the card one time, was surprised by that)

No. You cannot do this, if your asking will it clear sky one etc on your digibox?.

If you put your chorus i/p via the aerial socket you will receive chorus the same way as you always did, through your TV. Is that what your asking?

Your Sky 1 on your digibox will still remain encrypted but you can watch it on your analogue tv as normal.

by the way if your chorus service is analogue then yes put it into the aerial in socket. Why havent you done this allready? This will mean you can watch chorus channels on your normal tv way while watching ftv on your digibox. :D

yeah, thanks, but thats what i have been trying
i have the chorus on the "aerial in" on the box and the skybox to the tv via scart
now i have the normal sky digital ftv on my AV station, but nothing on the normal anologue stations on the tv..just static
    any suggestions?
    cheers

Remove the AV lead and use the "normal" connection. I think this will do it. At the moment how do you watch chorus channel?

Well the aerial input connection on the tv itself is screwed up (all loose) so I have to put chorus through the vhs and the vhs goes to the tv by scart too.
but my scart splitter is full with dvd & ps2 etc so i am constantly changing them.
it wont work just with the chorus into the skybox and skybox to tv by scart, no?

It should work yes. I can't see what the problem would be. Can you put the chorus into the VHS and then the VHS into aerial in socket of decoder and then try it? :D

yes mate, i tried that, but i still just got static! thats why i was thinkin that i may have to use the add channels option in sky so as to add them, but thats just for digital i think!

Hmm awkward when your Aerial socket is broken. You'll still need to use your VCR to change Chorus channels due to lack of aerial socket on TV.

It would be possible for Aerial/Chorus >> Sky Digibox >> VCR >> (VCR to TV via Scart)

You'll then need to tune digibox output channel into VCR. I'd still recommend connecting digibox to TV via Scart though, due to superior picture quality.

BTW, how many Scart sockets on back of VCR?

there's two, one in and one out
thanks, i'll give that a try via scarts and see how it goes.
sure if not, i guess i'll just have to swap them over.
    thanks for the help lads

I had a TV like that - my fault tho :) so here's what I did.

Aerial/NTL cable lead to the input on the Sky box.

Output from Sky box to the input on the video

Scart from Sky box to video.
Scart from Sky box to TV (AV1/EXT1)
Scart from video to TV (AV2/EXT2)

..all of which meant I could record from Sky & NTL to the video, watch the video/cable channels on AV2 on the TV or just watch Sky on AV1.

(probably should've just bought a new telly... oh well! :))

Using the chorus cable as the RF input on the back of the digibox will not give you any extra channels on the digibox (either throught the EPG or through "Other Channels"). The only input that the dish uses for digital channels is the one direct from the dish.

I thought I explained that to him but I think you made it even clearer :D
