I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.
We have sky digital at home and i have a spare dish with all the fittings.

What i want to know is if i fit the spare dish to our holiday home and when we are going away for the weekend bring my Digibox and card with me and connect it up to the dish and tv will i receive all the channels i normally do or will i receive any.

I only tought of this as i was sick of watching RTE1 Net2 etc and don't fancy paying out a second monthly sub for some where we only use a few weeks of the year, and we don't have a phoneline in the holiday home. The house is in wexford if that makes any difference.

    Any help appreciated

    Gary.

If you are inside the twelve month first year subscription then you MAY run into trouble with Sky,over callbacks, but if it is a standalone box,as opposed to mirror subs they do not seem to enforce the rule as rigirousley.

You are guarenteed that your box will callback approx 17 days(In my case anyway) before your Direct Debit is due,if you have used Box Office, but even if it misses one of these calls any events will be included on a future bill.

If you are taking the box away for a weekend or so it should not present any problems, but there are a few things you can do as soon as you reconnect the phoneline to ensure the box calls home on the offchance it has missed a signal while the phoneline was disconnected.
    1. Do a SkyNews Active Vote
    2. Do a forced callback from inside the hidden Installation Menu
      Services
      System Setup
      01 Select
      New Installation
      Follow Procedure
Warning Please Do Not Modify Any Other Settings Within This Menu

I am probably being over cautious here and you really should have no problems if it is only away for the weekend!!

I've seen numerous posts about the sky box having to be connected to a phone line...
I have Sky in now about 4 yrs and never had the phone line connected in..

The mandatory phone connection only came in about two years ago (June 2002 - I think). If you had Sky before that then there was never a phone line requirement and there won't be unless you get a mirror subscription.

I plugged out my phone line years ago.

One day I couldn't get a Box office movie as the screen said
      "insufficient credit"

I rang SLY and they told me to plug in the line for a bounceback
following which they promptly debited my bank account for €70
that I owed them. They sent me a list of all the box office events
I had watched going back ages.

      WWE for €17

      my kids !!!!!!!!!!!!

Last time I will ever plug that phone jack in !
