    Hi,
I've done this many times before on diff pc's but I'm having a problem now.

It boots up from cd, goes to setup, I choose partition to install on (I delete partition and format and then it copies files) all normal. but once it finishes copying system files it reboots. also normal as far as I remember. But this time it reboots and enters setup the same was as it did the first time and your only option is to repeat the process again, which I did or else quit. It just keeps doing it. It should usually go to the screen where it tells you about all the new xp features and stuff and give you a countdown timer of 37 minutes or whatever it is.

    1st boot device is floppy
    2nd is HD

all seems to be normal in bios and I'm using the master jumper settings and the master connection on the lead.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Are you pulling out the floppy disc and CD when it tells you to?

it doesnt tell me at all. I dont think it ever did and i have never needed a floppy for installation either.

Before it reboots you should get a message to remove any floppies or cd's so remove your cd. It's just starting a fresh install because you're leaving the bootable cd in there.

its only starts a fresh install if you press a key when it says "press any key to boot from cd"
leave the keyboard alone and it'll continue with the install unabated

Hi. I sorted it out. I took the pins out of the HD and it booted up properly even though I'm 98% sure the pins were set to master!
