Has anyone noticed that some of the 2FM newsreaders seem to have problems reading out loud?

I noticed the sports reader mumbling the other day, actually...

I've also noticed a lot of mistakes by newsreaders lately, across the dial, I dont know if its because their getting worse at their job or I'm paying more attention to it... probably the latter.

I often wonder how people get those jobs. I would guess it's done on a "who you know" basis.

There's one woman on Newstalk and she has to be the worlds worst newsreader. Her pronunciation is atrocious.

As for 2FM, not quite as bad but there's a couple could do with some refreshers on diction.

While on the subject of 2FM news - their news bulletins are far too short for a national station. 98FM has better news than 2fm and that's saying something!

As long as they can speak better than Annanova, I don't care...

I was thinking just the same at lunchtime today as yet another simple work was slured by the newsreader and this was on RTE News At One. The Morning Ireland crew are plainly still asleep as they containly misname ppl and places and stumble over the most straightfoward sentences. I think basic grasp of the language and ability to read is now secondary to who you know.

    Mike.
