My problem is which is the fastest or from yer experiences the best way to go via the UK or skip the UK and travel from France, which ferry company? or the euro tunnel? best to get a cabin etc, never done this before so any advice will relly help ta,
    Mike

Far quicker to go via UK, getting a ferry from france will take at least 18 hours, you will get from Dover to Holyhead in 7-8 hours, depending on traffic and how fast you go on the motorways!! ;)

except you can miss out a far whack of driving across the UK by going straight to France. The mini cruise option on Irish ferries Rosslare - Roscoff is good value at €99 for a car and 2 passengers (you get a cabin).

Watch out for the Irish Ferries changing from Roscoff to Cherbourg or whatever its called - varies during the week.

Brittany Ferries have been more expensive than the former in my experience and go from Roscoff only - further from you.

Madsl - sure you miss out driving accross the UK if you get the boat from Rosslare to Roscoff .. but you have to then add on the drive from Dublin to Rosslare .. and the (very long) drive from Roscoff accross France.

I would have thought Dublin-Holyhead and then Dover-Calais or Zeebrugge would make more sense ?

One of the online Route Planners like Viamichelin.com would probably help work this out quicker.

I found the AA Route Planner was totally behind...and that was including Ireland. According to them (about 3 months ago) the M50 was half built. Disgraceful. There's also the RAC although I've no experience with their guide.

My god! Driving to Poland from Dublin. I remember travelling from Germany (Frankfurt) to Poland (Krakow) by bus. It took 16 hours and was a mad experience! But from Dublin! Thats gonna take forever!

Just how long do think its gonna take you?

    This might help: http://www.maporama.com

Bri... you could argue the M50 is only 1/2 built still ;)

Seriously though I think about the best of them is viamichelin.com .... The AA site is fairly crappy alright ... maporama as mentioned above is quite good too.

I've driven many times from/to the north of France to/from Dublin in much less than 24h. I've spend loads of time each time to find out the best deal. In general I ended up buying a Eurotunnel "landbridge" fare with from Irish Ferries. They're not that expensive.
The ferry from Roscoff/Cherbourg is not an option for you if you come from Poland. You would have to pay for the French motorways and the crossing takes an incredible 18.5h.

    See http://www.irishferries.com/landbridge_fares.shtml .
