I have a NF7-S V2 board and have been playing around with the idea of putting the s-ata connections to work currently I have two IDE hard drives, with fedora core 2 on the second ide connection. Can I have two ide AND two s-ata drives? Is RAID worth the effort? I have a dvd burner and a portable hdd and broad band, so it wouldn't be too much of a bother to reformat etc. What do you think? Just add on the s-ata drive(s) as extra storage, flog the ide's and get 2 large s-ata drive.

    Thanks,

    Mark

I have a setup very like you describe

    2x ide and 2 x S-ATA running FC2

my boot (and win2K partition) is on the first IDE and the root (along with a bunch of NTFS partions is on the first S-ATA drive
    works just fine

I am doing software raid in another box (RH9) but it's for redundancy not performance, all 4 drives in that box are bog standard IDE drives

Any idea on how to stop FC2 grapping all USB events so that I can use USB devices in win2k under VMware??

Sorry, still too much of a linux newb to be able to answer that! I had an offer of a 120 gb maxtor drive 7200 rom with the 8 mb cache (and s-ata cable) for 70 yoyo's (new in box) Think I'll just add it on anyway. Movies take a lot of space! :p
