I am just wondering if anyone knows whether OEM memory will work in my computer. I saw it on JES http://www.jes-computer.de/product_info.php?pID=7543 and its considerably cheaper than other memory I've seen.
My computer is a Dell Dimension 4300 and I dont wanna hear how crap a computer it is etc... I just want to know if it will work. If you need any more info on the computer...jus post a reply.
    Thanks

It should work, and that's as definite an answer as anyone will be able to give you.

OEM just means that it doesn't come with the retail packaging, manuals etc.

You should try http://shop4memory.com/. They have good prices and are based in Celbridge.

EDIT: Just found this on shop4memory:

    DELL Dimension 4300 4300S
    Desktop
    Standard memory: 128MB (R)
    Maximum memory: 512MB
    Upgrade slots: 2
Notes: * The system will only recognize 512MB.

IF you buy that one on jes you'll have to take out the ram you already have in it.

Have a look on the Dell talk forums, they'll tell you for sure. They are great for all Dell upgrade info.

Yep according to the Dell specs 512MB seems to be the max :(

On the Jes site it says (translated from german):

For ätere PC-systems, we recommend urgently the Mushkin 16MX8 Module to you because the OEM Module i. d. R are not recognized. in older systems and/or only to the half.

So that may be what Jes are talking about? These guys say it can take 1GB but it may be up to the BIOS on your MB; fletch you may afto flash to the latest BIOS.
