    Hey folks,
Any advice on developing my digital prints? Any recommendations for a cheap and reliable service (whether a shop in dublin or online?)

    Cheers

Cheapest I know of, at least if you have a good amount to get done, is Spectra photo - 15c/print for 76 or more. They turn out very well also, and will do any aspect ratio correctly in my experience (even did some super wide panaromic crops at the same price). I drop them into the shops although they also have an online service - full details of shop locations etc. on www.spectra.ie

    PRINTS FROM DIGITAL SERVICE

    6"x4" (10x15cm) price per print

    1 Image €0.35
    26+ Images €0.25
    51+ Images €0.20
    76+ Images €0.15

    5"x7" (13x18cm) price per print

    1 Image €0.55
    26+ Images €0.35
    51+ Images €0.30
    76+ Images €0.25

    6"x8" (15x20cm) price per print

    1 Image €1.00
    26+ Images €1.00
    51+ Images €0.90
    76+ Images €0.80

    10"x8" (25x20cm) price per print

    1 Image €3.00
    26+ Images €2.50
    51+ Images €1.95
    76+ Images N/A

    12"x8" (30x20cm) price per print

    1 Image €4.00
    26+ Images €3.50

Theres one of those new digital photo booth things in Roches stores (hidden around by the lifts on the ground floor). Its 20c a print IIRC. Cant comment on quality as I haven't got around to trying it yet

Boots, has quite the deal 15 cents for more than 50 prints.

I had 350 prints I wanted deloped and they ended up charging me like 12 cents a piece, not sure if this is a standard deal.

you also get a 150 euro holiday voucher from thomas cook

Yeah I've used bonusprint.ie a few times. Last time I used them (about 6 months ago) it was 13c per print. Delivery takes about 5 days though so grand if you're not in a rush for the prints.

No, Boots have those and you can get your prints there and then but at a cost of 50c a print. Boots do the 15c a print on their 24hr service.

I've got loads of digital pictures on my pc from over the last few years so how would I go about having them printed?

Could I just burn the ones I want prints of onto a CD and hand it in or is it not as straightforward? I suppose I could always transfer them to my 256mb XD card if there was a problem...

Buring them to CD is fine for any shops I ever went to even the booths have CD-Rom drives.
Don't have to bother with memory cards then..

yes I have and the quality is very good + delivery is fast but a little more expensive that bonus print but they also do some larger prints which is good ;)

Boots are doing a deal at 7.20 for 50 pics.

BUT, not all Boots have this offer. Stephens Green only has the Kodak Machine - I had to go to Jervis.

Quality is supposed to be really good.

The Boots in Cork on Patrick Street are charging 70c per 6x4 print from that Kodak machine, total rip off! :~

Spectra Online charge 15c a print for 76+ prints which is the best deal I could find. You'll have to add Euro 1,- for delivery to your local Spectra store or Euro 1,80 for postage to an Irish address. They have an offer of free postage for all first time users of the service which I recently availed of and had the prints 3 days later. Spectra stores are charging 19c for 100+ photos so the online prices are pretty good even with shipping.

PS What about making this a sticky topic in either this or the photography forum, I'd imagine it keeps coming up?

Spectra charged me 15c/print the last two times I got prints developed in-store. No postage charge, obviously, just dropped the CD in and picked up the prints next-day. (€14.99 for 100 prints.) My girlfriend gets a lot of stuff printed with Spectra and it's always 15c in volume. Are you sure the stores are charging 19c for 100+?

Their in-store literature states 19c, I read somewhere that they upped their prices about a month ago. Did you get your prints recently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

It was over a month so perhaps they have indeed increased their prices.

I wouldn't like opening up another request thread for digital photos but basically had a sh*te computer cd burner broke, had a digital camera for about 2 years now, took over 1000 photos want to get some/all developed but at even at 15c a print thats 150euro haha and im sure somewhere would do a deal but just wondering does anyone know anywhere that would do a deal like would that be classed as professional amount r something and get wholesale prices?
