Doom 3 - Sound Effects

Hi all,

Hope you've had a chance to try out Doom 3 by now. In spite of all the hype and the unavoidable anticlimax, the game is actually pretty amazing nonetheless. Graphics and sound are spot on and just keep dragging you in to the terrifying atmosphere (especially if you play in a dark room with surround speakers)....

... my only criticism is the sound effect for when you walk; it sounds like a sample of someone banging a pole off a wall, over and over again - and this is the most heard sound effect in the whole game! (Doom 3 isn't unique in this regard though).

(Mind you, it's nothing compared to the sound of climbing up or down a ladder - this one is just laughable! :eek: )

The trent reznor sounds have been released. It's a 8mb pak file, replaces most guns sounds amongst other stuff.

Sounds way better.

Thanks. You do have to register. Don't know about downloading any probgram though. I believe ID are asking the file be taken down as well!

By the way, why did id software abandon Trent Reznor's originals, especially if these are much better... it can't have been a royalty issue, considering he has released them to the public?
