Shaving head

My hair is slowly thinning on top and whilst it isn't really noticable yet I want to deal with the problem now by shaving it all off down to the skin before it gets any worse. Imagine 'a lex luthor' or whatever as what I'm going for.

Now I don't care about having no hair at all but what I do not want is that 'horseshoe' pattern bald guys have (where there is thicker hair on the sides than on the top). As such my only reservation to shaving is that I don't want to end up with that 'stubbly' / '5oclock-shadow' look in the areas where hair still grows that you sometimes see on bald guys who shave their heads.

So what I want to know is, is this goal of apparent total hairlessness possible or can it only be achieved by men with certain hair colours/textures/thicknesses etc? Any tips, testimonies, methods etc gratefully recieved.

my ex boyfriend had the same problem from the age of about 18 and he shaved it all off. his hair was a very dark brown. he shaved it every 2-3 weeks as it grew back pretty fast and like you he didnt want that horse-shoe effect. he loved it as it was less hassle (he always was a lazy git ;) ) and i loved it because i find baldies very sexy!

i'd say head to the local barber and see what he had to say.

Heh, the irony of not wanting to show balding by, eh, cutting every bit of it off :p

TBH, there's some ppl it suits better than others. Sure what have ya got to lose? It's gonna grow back soon enough if it doesn't suit and being the summer I'd think it'd be a good time to try it out :) I've only gone as far as a no.1 cut, but I'd imagine there may be some irritation from a close shave for the first few days...

    It is what it's.

I started shaving my head for the same reasons as you.
It's easy to do (no loose skin like the face so no irritation or nicks).

It will feel VERY weird for the first while (you feel air currents pass over your head).
    Don't notice it now.
It does look better on some more that others, I think/hope I pull it off...

You'll have the Lex Luther for a few hours/1 day, stubble after day one, a South American footballer look for about a week and then it'll need shavig again.

Don't know about the horseshoe effect mesel but I'd recommend the air current treatment too. Be careful the first time you shave your hair off or you will get nicks and scratches.
