just connected to internet via the suplied iol usb modem, has router but it broke, and when connected it came up as 1mbps.
Have iol increased their speed or is the modem confused, hope it isn't the last!

Check your download speed if your connected at 1 MBps you should be getting a transfer rate of 80 - 110 Kbps

    try downloading something

    if you get 40-50k a sec it's 512k
    if you get 100-120k a sec it's 1mbps

What can i d/l that is guaranteed to give me 1mbps?
D/l directX twice and getting combined speed of about 55, so normal 512 what a pitty.

About someones friend having 100mbps, thats prob because he connects via a network, thats the way i had it before the router went.

    Thanks for the fast replies

My router shows 512kbps here in Cabra. Which exchange are you on? Perhaps €ircon are starting to upgrade RADSL gear to 1Mbps.

    ADSL Line Status: SHOWTIME
    Downstream Data Rate: 512kbps
    Upstream Data Rate: 128kbps

    PPP Connection Status: Connected
Protocol & Encapsulation Mode: PPPoE LLC
    VPI/VCI: 8/35
