I got an IHP 140 in July and it was broken when it got to me , however it could play . I just got a replacement today and its working grand cept the volume on the reaplcement isnt half as loud as the one I had before.

The first one I had - I remember 25-30 being about as much as I could take without making my head explode , with this one though I need it at 40 to be able to hear it well

The headphones look slightly different , could that be it ? ideas ?

try a diff pair of earphones, if all are same volume and its unusually low, unfortunately you've got bad luck:(

firstly, do try new earphones, then try flashing in different firmware, american ones if possible. in Europe we have this nice law which limits max volumes, its possible the new player has that law written into its firmware (if you know what i mean. i'm tired. leave me alone! :p)
