CPU's and Motherboards from the U.S.

I am looking at building my own PC and have been looking at the prices on ebay.com. I would like to get a AMD 64 CPU and motherboard combo from there as it fits into my price range. A friend is over there for a few weeks so he can take delivery so that should not be a problem. I would like to take advantage of the €1 to $1.20 exchange rate.

The only hesitation I have is with regard to compatability voltages and all that. If I plug the system into a PSU bought locally will it fry the board and CPU or do all PSU's have a standard output ?

Also I have been reading around and it would appear that there will be a new set of prices set by AMD later this month should I hang on for that or does it take months to filter down the channel to the customer ?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    AFAIK
The board will still work off 12 Volts, once the power unit you have is taking an input of 220 to 240 and outputting 12V you'l be fine.

I'm sure others will claify if I'm incorrect

they'll be the exact same boards - just get a power supply that works over here and you'll be fine.

Beware of getting shafted for delivery from the US. You may get stung for import duty if customs catch it.

Cheers, Thanks for that looks like I might be able to get a bargain. Now just judging whether to wait two weeks to see if prices go down a little more.

    Stephen,
Shouldn't be a problem as it will be coming home in a friends suitcase. Just going to get it delivered to his work address and he will bring it home a week later.
I just need to figure out if I need a AMD 46 cpu at 2800 or 3200 or higher and what motherbords to select. So the fun bit start now.
