Personally I'm a big fan of Guttenberg's Moveable Printing Press as it revolutionised how people communicate with each other. Radio, Television, Internet are merely extensions of that achievement.

Man-made inventions lemme see...

Radio - a sheit-load hinges on this - and besides Marconi was half Irish!
The transistor - likewise - (except they weren't half Irish whiskey makers!)
The Laser - without it no internet (worth speaking of), no CDs, no DVDs, no cool way to eavesdrop for the CIA etc. No fun vapourising ants etc.
The A-Bomb - no way Bruce Willis is going to save us with 2,500 payloads of TNT from the shuttle. OK existing ordinance won't take out something 50KM across - but they will build it if they know its going to come! - Large lattice of H/A-bombs, 3ns skewed detonation (inwards between layers). Sheit load of tritium-lithium mix at the core.

Sky digital Real-B-Man? You are kidding surely! Put anything from Sky, like sports or movies, in the best rip-offs list! 50+ channels, most of which you will never watch and it takes so long to flick through them all that by the time you decide which one, the programme is over! MEanwhile Rupert Murdoch is laughing all the way to the bank! It is a great invention for him, but it allows him to fleece people!
