    Hey Guys,

I'm contemplating getting an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (Socket 939) Motherboard, and am just wondering if anyone knows what RAm types it supports. I'm toying with the idea of getting some Corsair XMS TWINX PC3200 Low Latency ram - which is unregistered if I recall.

So I'd prefer knowing before shelling out lots of money on kit that doesn't then work.

Im not 100% about the Neo2 but the K8N neo seems to go pretty well with ... Mushkin Level 1 & 2 , and also OCZ EB range. From what i hear there picky motherboards. OCZ EB is supposed to be the Ram to get with these boards (AMD64 ones).......

    Check out this.

Its for the 754 (well was started for the 754, may have some 939 stuff in it) but it will give you some idea of what will work (also a a thread abou ram to avoid which can be found here )

I dunno if the 939 version is as plagued with problems as wthe 754 but when u eventually hit itss sweet spot its a hell of a board.

Yea thats for sure. I really want to try an AMD64 rig and this is the board id get , nice bit of a challenge but a great board from what ive seen. If i get some more money over the summer i might try a K8N and a newcastle and see how i get on......... fingers crossed (might have to stick with me Xp2000)

OCZ EB or Mushkin L1 would be my choice for memory.............

does anybody know if Infineon Original DDR400 512MB works on the MSI K8N Neo (i know topic is about MSI K8N Neo2, but they are the same chipset and motherboard manufacturer so it should be the same in the area of memory)?

link to specific memory - http://www.jes-computer.de/product_info.php?pID=14293

I noticed that the Infineon memory tested at http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20040602/memory_modules-15.html works well with the motherboard, but I am not sure this is the same memory sold on JES (although it is also CL3.0 as in the test). maybe JES should put the memory code and more details then what they've put up, all it says is "Original Infineon chip of Original Infineon make - this memory is of particularly high-quality"...

I'd heard that the AMD64 boards like tight timing, which is why I looked at the Corsair XMS 3200XL ram. Timings are 2-2-2-5
