Vodafone & Nokia 6230

Well I called Vodafone 2 weeks ago and asked when the Nokia 6230 would be available and I was told there was an issue with the wap 2.0 and it should be fixed within a week.

I called them Thursday and I was told that the issue with the Wap 2.0 was fixed on Wednesday night and the phone was now available!!

I tried a few shops and they said the phone was not available yet, so I called Vodafone again and they said it was definitely available and the rep said she had done an upgrade on one already!

She gave the number of a Vodafone store which I rang and the manager said it was not available and that Vodafone were telling me lies.

I called Vodafone back again and and the person said it was available, I asked if she could check to be sure, after about 5 minutes she came back and said it was withdrawn again!!

I then asked to speak to a supervisor who said the issue with the Wap 2.0 was not fixed and the phone would not be released for approx 2 weeks!!

I outlined what had been said to me and she said the rep who told me she had done an upgrade was wrong it was a sim free phone that was bought!

I told her that for a comunications company they internal comunications was pretty poor, and she agreed and also apologised. I advised her that the phone was available on the O2 network so the issue had to be with vodafone to which she agreed, I pointed out that Vodafone were weeks behind O2 to which she said they were working around the clock to correct the issue, which she said previously would take up to 2 weeks!!

Conclusion - Vodafone is badly managed organistaion with little internal comunication and they are nearly a month behind O2 in regards to this issue!!!!! :(

Would you prefer that it was let go into the market? A problem was discovered so it was withdrawn. If it had been released with the problem present, you would've been straight on to Customer Care complaining that things didn't work. I really do feel for you guys up in Dundalk ;)

What good did that do? Did a 6230 magically appear out of the sky when you told her all that? You think Vodafone don't already know what 02 have on the market?

Give this man a Perrier Award, he deserves it.

Well the 6820 and 6600 were released and they have the same issue, the phone works fine for calls and texts just the wap 2.0 that doesn't work, and I'm educated enough to know that I could still use the phone without this feature so I wouldn't have been ringing anyone complaining.

Well I was reminding them that their main competition is nearly a month ahead of them in relation to WAP2.0. I'm a paying customer so I have every right to state my opinion of their service compared to other service providers.

Perhaps you should try and understand the issue before you go talking crap

If you want a 6230 so urgently, why don't you get a SIM-free handset from mphone or expansys? It might even work out cheaper than Vodafone if you're not entitled to an upgrade (assuming you are a post-pay customer).

For some reason I doubt the problem was pulled back and if it was in the exact state as the two handsets you mention...

So you have concluded that because one girls on the customer care helpdesk made a mistake about a phones release date, that the companies staff do not communicate with each other?

I think he would have been more understanding of your situation if you didn't post those ridiculous statements and kept your emotions out of it..

Vodafone Ireland are possibly the most meticulous at testing their handsets before release. Its frustrating but overall results in less problems.

Well the supervisor I spoke to said that the issue was the Wap2.0 and only that, she agreed the issue was with Vodafone and not the handset!

Read the post again, you will see that 3 people I spoke to were not informed and the supervisor even recognised this and said she would make sure that all staff were updated on the availability of the handset

I posted the events as they happened and drew a fair and just conclusion which the Vodafone supervisor by and large agreed on.

Yeah but unfortunately the majority of people wouldn't understand why these things aren't working. It really is much better to get any problem sorted, then release, rather than just release and try to fix it along the way.

Vodafone were/are literally working around the clock to get everything onto WAP 2.0. It's understood that it's having a negative impact on sales etc and that only helps to speed up the process.

With regards to bad communication, I guess some people just don't read their mails ;)

So why did they release the 6820 and 6600??

can we keep the 'discussion' civil... also please refer to Rules of Engagement No. 2 and 5...
if you didn't post those ridiculous statements and kept your emotions out of it..

potentially fanning the flames isn't helpful

I would be thinking that the problems experienced with the 6230 is not the effecting these handsets. Only guessing though..

    Conclusion... :(

irish1, WAP 2.0 is just being rolled out by Vodafone, so there will be teething problems with everything from hardware to systems to customer support, as you have experienced, best to hold tight for a little while and try again later

the only time i believe a handset is actually available is when a retail shop actually has them to sell - so that's the best 'rule of thumb' I can offer

so that brings this discussion to a close as far as I can see
