Just to warn you their great headphones but the cable is made of annoying creasable material (cant describe it any other way) and walking with them is something you may have to adjust to as it forms a seal in your ears.

    Enjoy!

P.S. Got mine in Canda so cant help

    thanks for replies..
looks like it will be amazon so.

I've had them before.. the right ear doesnt work anymore. I've had them for ages, I usually go through tonnes of earphone cuz I use them so much. These are deffo great value for money... especially with my awkward ears, they fit poifect!

    Is it dead completly?

The volume on one of mine was extremely low. Turns out the tiny hole in the earpiece was blocked. Worked fine after i cleared it out

The problem you are all experiencing are due to the way in which the cord is covered. If you bought them in the sony shop and still have the receipt bring them back and they will replace them for you. They're the best earphones I have bought but i had to replace them twice and eventually opted for a more durable pair

The wire inside the cable cover twists as its not attached to the wire cover thus the connection eventually comes loose and the volume drops in the earphone. I would buy the new apple ones but i dont want white earphones.
Anyone looking for new earphones should have a look at AudioCubes they have great reviews but unfortunately wont deliver to Ireland

I get this problem every three months. My solution? Not spending much on head phones. €9 ish quid for an ok pair of headphones in golden discs, i don't mind if they break, or i lose them. Haven't ever had a pair of head phones of any brand last more than 6 months. I shopuld point out i use mine daly, and they often get rain on them.
On a side note, anyone know where you can buy headphones, where the right wire is longer than the left (to go behind you neck) and a short cable. Exactly like the ones you get with most Sony MD units? Not sony heapphones mind, any brand?

one of the ears went silent on me also, Sony Centre replaced them for me... noticed the cable/wire in the replacement pair was different though, feels a bit more robust

Do you mean the white iPod ones? Or is there a more upmarket version?

By the way I was actually asking which model you bought instead of the Sonys... :D

Black insulating tape and some clever tying up will do that easily.

Finally got my my act together and I sent the faulty earphones to Sony in Tallaght. Got a new pair today, in original packaging and all:)

sorry hadn't checked this post in a while.i went for the apple in-ear earphones after all and i love them.not sure how they compare with the sony's cuz its been a while but i like them despite the reviews they get.great base and best fit ever..but depends on your ear of course..wont suit everyone.however the right went a bit quieter and i rang for a replacement...20mins later i fixed it by sucking on the earphone...turns out it had just blown due to the noise level..sucking on it seperated the layers or something like that but it works fine now

I got a pair of these but they didn't fit my ears at all. But I managed to blow them and get a refund. I got a pair of the next model down (don't go all the way into the ear) and they work great.

Apparently the Sharp HP-MD33s are actually better than the sony MDR-EX71SLBs (cheaper too), but they're harder to source. I got mine from bluetin.com, they deliver to Ireland, but their site is a bit amateur (they get great reviews though).
