Adding second EIDE HDD (160Gb)

    Howdy,
Got a new 160Gb EIDE Drive (WD Caviar 1600), have tried to install on a number of machines here at work, XP Pro(SP1)/W2K boxes.
The jumper settings are fine, Want to keep my existing C:\ as master, set new 160Gb drive to slave on the primary channel.
The BIOS picks it up ok.
In Device manager, it is recognised without any issues, But does not show up in explorer. When I go to DiskManagement, it recognises it, but I have no option to import the disk.
The disk is formatted (NTFS) and was working previously on a XP Pro machine. there is data on the drive I wish to keep, so formatting and re-partitioning will not be then answer.
I'm guessing that there may be some sort of policy on the XP/W2K builds used here in work that do not allow to import disks... would this be the reason??
At my wits end - any suggestions appreciated... cheers!

If those computers have an old enough bios they wont pick up the larger drive. Check to see if the 160gig has a jumper setting to fool the bios into thinking it's only a 32gig drive or something similiar.

Did you set the disk to be a dynamic disk in the previous machines ?
