    Hey all,
i was installing Max Payne when my HD starts Clicking! Not a good sign i know :) since then i've been getting errors in some programs etc. Im guessing my HD is fcuked?

Its about a year old and i bought it in PC World (Samsung Spinpoint) and dont have the reciept. Is there anyway of getting a replacement drive from anyone? Would i have to go to Samsung about it??

Cant use Firefox anymore and AVG has given up!

Any advice on the above would be great :)
    Cheers

First of all, back up your data NOW. Most HD manufacturers don't require proof of purchase for warranty - usually you can enter the drive's serial number on their website and that can tell if it is under warranty or not. Have a poke about on samsung's site.

Ah there's nothing on it i need really. I'll drive it to the end :D

Yeah i was on the samsung site. Looks like ive to get an RMA from the supplier, run some program from their site (which i cant get to work!), then send it to them in the original packaging (which i havn't got).

I'll try bringing it to PC World and see what they say.....

We'll brought it back to PC World. Explained the problem. Despite having no reciept i got a brand spanking new drive for free! No questions asked.

Plus it was an upgrade of the drive i had before!

A happy PC World customer :D:D

Fair play to them (for once)

I RMA'd a drive to IBM/Hitachi a couple of months ago just a month before its 3 year warranty was due to expire, was hoping for an upgrade, but they sent me back a shiny new one of the same model - ah well.
