I am thinking of buying a new graphics card and need help!

    1. I recently got this computer and got a Radeon PCI-Express X300 SE, and im wondering if a Radeon 9800 Pro will be compatible with my comp for gaming?

I've no idea what computer you bought, but if it's using a PCI-Express card, then 9800 Pro won't be compatibile - it comes only in AGP version.

Provided the Motherboard has an AGP slot you should be fine.

Although im not sure if those new PCI-E motherboards come with an agp slot.

Ouch did you get that Dell system? That card is brutal.

Chances are you may have to get a pci-e card but check to see if you have an agp slot.

I haven't seen many pci-e cards yet except the high end ones so I couldn't tell you what to get.

It's better than a 9600 XT not a 9800 Pro, but it's better than a X300; it will "do" for DOOM III and HL2 but at nothing over 1024*786 high settings.

If you want a good graphics card get a X800 or Geforce 6800 series card, in PCI-E version.

Don't know if your board has an AGP slot, but if it does I'd stay away from it. The only way to implement an AGP slot on i915/i925 chipset motherboards is through a PCI-to-AGP bridge, which means a significant performance loss.

X600 is an average performer you'd be able to run the current games, but not at high resolutions and not at high quality settings.
