    I have a Palm Zire71 myself.
    Reasons for plam over ppc:
    - better battery life
    - larger quantity of apps available
    - more reliable

Brighthand posted a good article last year following up on one they wrote a few years earlier:

Yeah. Very interesting....and a VERY good point!
Seems it's heading that way alright

Also very interesting was the article about the future of the traditional handheld market, and how it will eventually end up with only two major players. In theory every market will end up like this eventually.

A Pocket PC is a better computer. Whereas a Palm is a better PDA. So it depends what you want it for. Personally I prefer the handwriting input and a lot of the apps on the Pocket PC. But I prefer the battery life and stability of the Palm.

Looks like this one is gonna be a close match, although personally, I think Palm will "probably" win out in the end.

I actually have both PPC and Palm (Dell Axim x30, handspring treo 90 and a sony clie something or other) and the palm has all the coolest features. the treo has bluetooth, but its an SDIO addon. the clie is a peice of crap cause the batteries are actuall batteries so it eats a lot, the treo is cool because of the built in keyboard, but the dell wins. built in WIFI and bluetooth, SDIO slot, so i use that for memory, Exchange active sync which is really handy for work. docking station for charging and syncing. 624mhz processor, which is faster then some computers i have in my room. the treo was cool for about 3 months of having it, but it started to piss me off. the screen started to go weird after a few months (little yellow dots at the top of the screen) no wifi option for it, various different things. but the dell, man that thing is cool. OK battery life sucks (3-6 hours depending on weather you have wifi, bluetooth or full processor on) but i chage it in work, and im only traveling for about an hour or 2 each day, so i can use it for that. its my preferance anyway! ;) Ohhh, and i like being able to write stupid little apps in the .NET frame work in either C# or VB.NET. always handy. just little things no one else has or something different.
