whats up with my barton 2500?? its at 57C, stock fsb and voltage. motherboard ( a7v8x ) is at 29C. ive got a non standard heatsink, not sure what model cause cant review order history with komplett.
    why is it so hot?
ive got another machine next to this one, it's a palamino 2100, and it's only 53C

thats not right, do i need a proper copper heatsink and some let it swim in thermal paste or what?

Should only be a small amount of paste on your HS. Are those temps on load - for a barton they seem way to high for idle; any over the top OC or over Volt? Look in your BIOS to see if you can pop down the voltage, is there good case cooling in your case?

as OfflerCrocGod pointed out check if you put thermal paste on the cpu die, also check if the fan on the heatsink is running properly and that the heatsink is sitting on the cpu properly!

my overclocked and overvolted barton runs at that temp... get a better cooler, if it turns out the existing one is seated and installed correctly

ill check the cooler later its a bit early right now, i put paste on the die, maybe cm cubed at the very most half cm cubed at the least. fans working fine, i remember touching the heatsink on the palamino and it was hot, like it felt like 50-60C, but the barton heatsink feels maybe 5-10C hotter than my hands. maybe its not seated right at all.

    Hi!

Had similar issue with my Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe, it was approx 60-65c under load
and 58c idle. (Had a Whisperrock fan).

Tried upgrading the Bios but no luck, then changed to ThermalTake Vulcano 12 and Antec Silver. And this helped..
(Not even running fan on full speed, so its as quiet as the other one.. :))

Now its running 48c under load and 43c under idle..
