    Hi all,

just wondered if anybody had any idea of the cost of motor insurance in irealnd for a 20 year old girl with a provisional license as named driver on parents insurance. Just my girlfriend asked her parents and they told her it'd cost a fortune but I think they just don't want her driving their car!

    thanks

No, they're right. Probably be upwards of €1,000. You won't know unless you get a quote.

Try insure.ie and 123.ie for quotes, or call FBD who are probably lower anyway.

No. Try absolutely everyone in the phone book!
As for price, pick a number, double it, quadruple that and add 1!

    Yes!!!

Seriously ring them ALL, including brokers. The market is so fúcked up in this country that you won't know what quotes you'll come across - you might save yourself a fortune.

Also, repeat this process every year before renewal time
