Best External DVD-RW to get?

A mate of mine has a laptop and is looking to purchase an external dvd-rw. I had a look online but couldn't find any. Checked all the usual suspects: JES, Komplett, Overclockers to mention a few. Nothing. Any suggestions on where and what to purchase. As far as I'm aware, Plextor and Freecom do external dvd-rw's. Plextor would be my choice there as I've never heard of Freecom but where would I purchase such a drive? Laptop was recently bought and runs XP. Thanks

Argos have this one in the new catalogue, it is €199 here.

I don't know how good it is, but in the catalogue spec it says it can use firewire as well, doesn't say that on the website.

OMG OMG! what a rip off

Why not get the NEC 2510 and an external case (USB2) for it.

I believe that works out about 70euro cheaper, and you get a kickass drive to boot.

Cheers. That's exactly what I'm looking for - an external CD-DVD case. I have the NEC 2500 myself and I would recommend it whole heartedly so I guess I'll just suggest that to him. Thanks.

This is the jobby I bought. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I can't seem to figure out from their web store if they ship international, though.
