any news on who goes where after this season?

I hear Trulli is on his way to Toyota with Fisichella taking his place at Renault, Monty heads to McClaren (although rumour has it he doesnt want to go...and after Kimi's exit today who can blame him!)

    any more movement expected?

Apparently Webber is going to Williams. If DC doesn't retire, he'll probably end up at Jaguar.

Trulli announced this morning at the German GP that he's leaving Renault but didn't reveal his destination. However, Toyota is an open secret.

Fisi was also linked with Williams earlier in the season but that rumour seems to have gone away.

Webber is the first in a long line of possibilities, but apparently he is a favourite!

As for DC I hope he does retire, he had potencial..once upon a time, bt he doesnt exactly inspire anyone these days!

Don't forget that williams has two seats up for grabs.I reckon Webber is almost a guarantee for one seat.Don't count Jaques villeneuve out for the second either.Martin Brundle on UTV's pre-race coverage said the seat was offered to Rubens Barrichello but declined.
Oh and how about the strong rumour of Mika Hakkinnen returning to the grid.Apparently he's had discussion's with Frank Williams and Ron Dennis about it but hasn't decided yet.
Anthony Davidson is a favourite for Fishichella's Sauber seat.Jarno Trulli could go to Toyota with Ralf Schumacher , assuming Olivier Panis seat is up for grabs , otherwise he's another contender for the Williams seat.

thats assuming ralf returns and there is a very popular rumour that says he wont!

Indy Racing League leader Tony Kanaan, challenger Dan Wheldon and reigning champion Scott Dixon are all linked with the Williams seats.Aswell as Jordans Nick Hiedfeld.Who here thinks that Gorgio Pantano has been a good racer this year.I also hear that he is linked with Jaguer.

Personally I don't rate Pantano, I'd prefer to see Glock in his seat at Jordan... if Pantano goes to Jaguar great !!! puts another nail in the Jaguar coffin and might get Jordan full backing from Ford ,who might even come up with a good engine.

as likely as Peter Collins getting sacked from RTE

I think he has done better than Hiedfeld in terms of Qualifying. But yes Timo Glock will be a contender for a Jordan seat but getting back to Pantano, no-one rated Takuma Sato that much either and now look at him in the BAR.
I'm just trying to say that we don't know yet but if Jaguer get it could be Jordans loss

I thought Jordan were talking about TOyota for next year?! I d rate Glock over Pantano although theres not much in it!

I'd rate Glock well ahead of Pantano, he does very impressive jobs in the Jordan during Friday mornings. Shame really

I agree andy about Sato..but remember he had a year testing the BAR before this season ( if Pantano is to be anywhere near as good as Sato he needs to do this too )

On the Jordan - Toyota thing..havent heard that rumour myself, but I suspect we'll be hearing a lot of rumours over the coming weeks as a result of the 2005 rule changes.

And Ralf Schumacher is talking up his chances on next season with Toyota so it doesnt look like hes retiring anytime soon ( pity that as hes such a waste of talent )

Bear in mind that the engines that Glock uses on a Friday are not restricted in the same manner as the usual race engines.

Aside from that, he has seemed to be pretty competent in the car.

 Shows that capped engines from other teams still out perform un-capped Jordans, ugh. When will the humiliation end?! There's something rather unsatisfactory about watching the Minardis climb over the backs of Jordan! :(

It has been reported today that Giancarlo Fisichella has signed for Renault, clearing the way for Jarno Trulli.Just getting back to the Hakkinen reports, dont forget McLaren have Montoya for 2005 and I dont think Ron Dennis is stupid enough to let Raikkonen go

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 90 ✭✭ian25

Didn't Toyota say at the british grand prix that they signed Ralf for next year .I could be wrong but i was sure he signed already.
In relation to Hakinnen ,i believe he was talking about getting a drive with Williams.Ron Dennis and Mika have been good freinds for a long time and Mika simply sought Ron's advice on whether he should make a comeback.
As for Pantano , i think he's done a competent job , but he hasn't shined like Mark Webber did when he drove for Minardi.Surely the best thing for Jordan right now is a little stability in their driver line-up.Timo Glock has raced and done a good job for Jordan in the past , but i don't think he's that much faster than Pantano.
Some of the teams will give a test to the F3000 frontrunners like Vitantonio Liuzzi or Enrico Toccacelo.

So the line-up as i see it:

    Ferrari -
    M.Schumacher
    Barrichello

    Williams -
    Webber
    Trulli/Coulthard/Villeneuve

    McLaren -
    Montoya
    Raikinen

    Renault -
    Fisichella
    Alonso

    Bar -
    Button
    Sato

    Sauber -
    A.Davidson/?
    Massa

    Toyota -
    R.Schumacher
    Panis/Coulthard/Trulli

    Jaguar -
    Coultard/Heidfeld/?
    Klein/Glock/?

    Jordan -
    Heidfeld/Verstappen?
    Pantano/Glock

    Minardi -
    Baumgartner?
    Bruni?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭Töpher

    Bruni won't get another chance.

It's entirely possible that if he get's the cash together, Vitantonio Liuzzi could find a drive next year. He's completely dominated F3000 this year (won every race bar one). The downside is that this could probably be a Minardi drive.

In other news, Dutch DTM driver Christian Albers is to test a Jordan soon.

Getting back to Ians post the Minardis are more likely to be different I can only recall Marc Gene and Fernando Alonso(not 100% sure) drove for more than 1 year at Minardi.

Autocar seem pretty certain that Hakkinen is on his way back, with Frank Williams being the keenest to sign him, depending on what McLaren want to do....

This is thing with teams at the back of the grid.Whoever shows up with the biggest wad of cash in their hands get the drive , so we probably wont know who will be driving for Minardi or Jordan until the end of the year.
