when I got in the place was pretty much empty and they were playing chemical brothers videos onthe screen, then the tired looking bearded dude came on for a half hour or so.

it was a great gig, grandaddy played really well and everyone i saw in the crowd seemed to be having a great time.

it's a pity about the smoking ban, else I need not neccesarily have been so sober

Yes, very good gig all right. As expected the place was fairly jam packed. They played a good selection of tunes and it's good to hear they have a new album in the works!

    good selection?

they played far too much from sumday I thought, granted it's the latest album but they have plenty of older songs that I would have preferred to hear (jed the humanoid, the nature anthem, .. other.. songs. :) )

I like sumday, it's a great album but I was hoping to hear some of their other stuff on the night. not that it ruined the evening for me, I had a great time. the news of the new album did make me smile like an idiot when I heard it, can't wait now!

Good gig alright. No Four Tet wasn't there, support was from Goodtime John - nothing to get excited about.

Glad I didn't go. It was mentioned in a few places that Four Tet was supporting.

Agreed that they played too much from Sumday, alot of promoting.
I'm a newbie to their sound and was quite impressed with them live, it was worth going.

meh...again the village must have been oversold. That place is waaay to small and they need to get some proper ventilation instead of those crummy fans that blow hot air everywhere...

...also about the gig - anybody hear the singer say:
"we were really pissed off to come and play here. We were in the middle of writing our new ablum"
... well if you dont want to be here, DONT PLAY!

The video backdrop kept on going on and off (not like the last time in the olympia, which looked deadly!)

The stage in the village is too low (if you are below 5'4", like my g/f, you cant see **** all from any angle)

Thats my 2 cents on the gig

    Mud,

Yea, I agree, was my first trip to the village, the band were great, but the venue was way too overcrowded, and not designed very well either I thought the ceiling was too low, couldn't see the display if you were located anywhere behind the dancefloor, or whatever that area in front of the stage is...

Man those fans, definitely not the healthiest thing to stand infront of those for long!

Won't be frequenting that place much if they don't get those fans shifted and put in a decent a/c system.

For those who wanted to hear non-sumday tracks, they did say that this was their last gig promoting the album sumday, not surprising so that they played mostly stuff from that!

I've got to tell you the crowd at Grandaddy was very comfortable, you should have been there the night before for Ian Brown, it was twice as hot and felt twice as packed.

i was standing on the left side of the room, directly opposite the bar.. leaning on some little wall-table and standing right under a fan

i dunno.. i moved around alot between comfortable and wanting to die
