    Hi

I’m thinking of getting a DVD-ROM and I’ve heard that these won’t read burned DVD’s, is this correct?

    Thanks lads,

I was looking; must the DVD drive say it is DVD-R/RW compatible to be able to read Burned DVD’s? I was looking at reviews of an LG DVD drive and they said that it couldn’t read burned DVD’s. The specs say that, it is DVD-ROM but doesn’t mention DVD-R/RW, is this, the reason?

Strange. Can you link to the review?

There is a small minority of DVD drives that have problems with DVD+/-/R/W etc. but these are all really old drives.

You won't see DVD+/-/R/W compatibility listed on DVD readers, only on DVD burners. A DVD drive will be able to read any kind of DVD, but a burner might not be able to burn any kind (although most will). That's why compatibility is listed on burners.
