New PC Problem

I got myself a new PC and built it up.

I have the Mobo Ram CPU everything installed.
When I boot it up it doesn't get anywhere, the fan cpu hd everything start running and I just get a constant beeping.

It doesn't show anything on the PC or do anything else.

I checked to see if it could be the GFX card using it in my PC but it works fine, just like the ram does.
So I figure it has to be something wrong with the mobo or CPU.
has anyone else had this problem before?
Should I just send it back?

The beeping sound will have a meaning. Check your motherboard manual for the audible POST codes your board uses.

Ok like leroy said there are audable sounds for different things it doesent mean anything is faulty. A siren means overheating (generally) or voltage problems, ahh i forget the rest......... manual should be a big help

[edit] or the forums for the motherboard (on website)

Did you make sure the graphics card is fully seated? and if its a new card it may require its own power connection ... My old 9700 goes ape and causes constant beeping if it isnt connected to the power supply....

Aye that crazy constant beeping is usally a memory or vga problem.

Like the lads said the beeps convey a message about what is wrong so even if the codes aren't listed in the manual you should be able to find this info online.
This site below lists and explains the meaning for the 3 most common types of BIOS (Award, AMI and Phoenix). Your motherboard manual will clue you in on which you have surely but it may also be marked in a sticker on top of the actual BIOS chip on the motherboard.

at a guess i would say the ram isnt seated right so try that first

i go for ram too, what motherboard do you have?

i had the same problem with mine only to find out on the net, that i had to really force the ram in, much harder then one would think, but then all was good! but check out the manual! all beeps have a reason!

If its constant BEEP BEEP BEEP then it could be the heatsink on the CPU. It usually means the CPU is overheating, or the motherboard thinks the CPU Fan isn't spinning.

According to my BIOS manual etc it says its a memory problem.
I have tried both the memory and the GFX card in my PC and they both work.

    So I'm thinking faulty motherboard

Try the RAM in different slots. it could be a faulty slot on the mobo.
