storing images once windowed

hi, this may be in the wrong forum, but as its more to do with using comp. apps than programming i put it here. does anyone know of a way to store an image, once its had its contrast/brightness changed? everytime i try i just end up storing the original, i'm using a program called imageJ. any help would be great, thanks.
