One of the mainstays of film music composition has died,
Goldsmith started out on radio then TV, scoring the Twilght Zone before moving into films in 1963.

Nominated for 17 Oscars and winning for the classic Omen score which makes the whole movie really.

    Other credits include

    Man From Uncle TV

    Planet of the Apes series
    Tora Tora Tora
    Logans Run
Star Trek the Motion Picture (Very good score) and all the sequels I think.
    Alien (exellent score)
    First Blood + sequels
    Poltergeist
    Basic Instinct
    LA Confidential

    Mike.

    Nooooo :(

The score for Alien was definitely one of my all-time favourites, RIP Jerry.

A few days ago, I watched the R1 version of Total Recall SE. Some of the extras had Jerry Goldsmith popping up and talking about his work on the film, and all I could think was "JESUS, shut the hell up saying the SAME THING ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU'VE WRITTEN. I hope you die."

Looks like I got my wish. But boy, don't I feel guilty now?
